Established in 1968,
Griffens Carnival Club is now based at The Bridgwater and Albion Rugby Club on Bath Road in Bridgwater Somerset. In 1968 Griffens Carnival Club said hello to the world with their very first entry ' The Great Pink Elephant Race ' where they came 2nd in comic features. Did we forget to mention that it was done on foot! This is where the memories started to unfold and we started to form as a club.

HISTORY...

As mentioned above In 1968 Griffens Carnival Club came to light with their very first entry ' The Great Pink Elephant Race ' where they came 2nd in comic features. This entry was done on foot, which means they walked the whole carnival route.

Griffens successful 1st place win was in 1976 with the theme 'War, Love, Peace'.

In 1976 we were formally known as 'Bath Bridge Griffens'.

Another 1st place for Griffens was in 1997 with our theme of 'Wanted Dead or Alive'. The music 'Riding Alone' by Rednecks was used by our club for the first time, it is also still used by other clubs now at present. Although this was an exciting year as we won the Bridgwater Carnival, it was also a sad year for us as a club. With the success of the win came the sad news of the loss of our much loved captain John Warren early hours of North Petherton Carnival day. After the club received this sad news the club members came together to pay tribute by adding a memorial to the front of the cart, on the tractor.

Griffens most successful year was in 2007 coming 2nd place throughout the board of all carnivals, with our theme 'Masquerade'. Griffens carnival club were half a point away from winning the county cup, how close is that!
